Sport, activities and sporting events in Basel
Throughout the year Basel plays host to top quality domestic and international sporting events.
And Basel has a lot to offer for those who enjoy participating in sport themselves too.
Here is a quick overview of both sides of Basel’s sporting coin:

Sport to take part in: getting active in and around Basel
Swimming
A highlight of the summer in Basel is the traditional Rhine Swim, an opportunity for the whole of Basel to go swimming! Visitors to the city are, of course, also invited to take part.
- How it works: into the Rhine, swim with the flow downriver and then out again.
- Recommendation: take a waterproof bag with you for a towel and dry clothing. Or let the sun dry you on the Rhine bank.

For those who are not entirely at home with the currents, we recommend the Rhine baths and open air pools:
- Rheinbad Breite
- Rheinbad St. Johann
- Gartenbad St. Jakob (Joggeli)
- Gartenbad Eglisee (Oct-Feb: skating rink)
Golf
Directly alongside the hotel is the Green Point Weil am Rhein indoor golf centre, where golfers can enjoy their sport whatever the weather.
The Drei Thermen Golf Resort offers rather more idyllic surroundings with two 18-hole courses in Bad Bellingen and two further 18-hole courses in the Alsatian town of Hombourg. Information about the courses can be found on www.drei-thermen-golfresort.de
Yet more sport!
